My wife and I booked the Atlantic Crossing from Ft Lauderdale to Barcelona and Barcelona to Rome on our own, but as 2 separate itineraries. We turned everything over to VIP and Michael contacted Viking, got the 2 separate cruises combined into one, got us a good deal on the air and got our cabin on the Barcelona to Rome leg upgraded. We now have the same cabin for the whole cruise from Ft Lauderdale to Rome so we don’t have to pack up, check out, disembark and then go through the whole checking in and unpacking process again in Barcelona. The practical effect of that last point cannot be overstated. We can now leave the ship early in the morning, spend the entire day exploring Barcelona on our own and then just return to the ship that evening avoiding that entire disembark/embark process that would otherwise happen in the middle of the day.
